1. Terms of use

1.1 Information platform

Reporting to the State Secretariat for Migration SEM, fide encompasses a variety of strategies, methods and resources to encourage language-learning for integration. On behalf of the SEM, the fide Secretariat helps to put fide programmes into practice. The fide web portal, run by the Secretariat, serves as an information platform for all interested target groups.

1.2 Rights of use

All web portal content is the property of the SEM and is subject to copyright, as set out at the end of this section. Users of the web portal are granted the personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and restricted right to use the content that is published and the documents and materials that are made available. Teaching aids and materials may be used as part of language courses and language promotion programmes to teach students and to develop learning resources. This also includes downloading only those resources that are provided for download, as well as printing them and using them for teaching purposes. Such resources may not be used in any other way. Films, images, charts and text may not be copied either fully or in part, neither may they be redesigned or used for any commercial purpose whatsoever. Furthermore, documents used to allocate students to the appropriate course, and to grade their performance, may not be used as a basis for any decision by the authorities. The fide Secretariat will be happy to provide further information if anything is unclear or if you have a special enquiry.

1.3 Obligations

Voluntary registration permits access to areas which, for legal reasons, have been designed for closed user groups. When visiting the fide web portal, users must take all of the necessary security precautions to protect the portal from unauthorised access or misuse. The relevant login data must be stored carefully and not passed on to third parties. In the event of non-compliance or of a breach of these terms of use, the user account in question – and thus access to the private areas described above – may be suspended. We also reserve the right to take legal action.

1.4 Liability

The fide Secretariat and the SEM accept no liability whatsoever in connection with the use of the fide web portal. Although great care has been taken, no guarantee is offered of the correctness, completeness or up-to-date nature of the content or information provided on the fide web portal. Similarly, neither the fide Secretariat nor the SEM accept any claims whatsoever from users on the grounds of the unavailability of or disruption to the portal service (for example owing to maintenance work), or responsibility for references and links to third-party websites over which the fide Secretariat and the SEM have no influence. Furthermore, the fide Secretariat and the SEM have the right to amend the format and content of the fide web portal at any time, and to suspend all or part of the services they offer.

1.5 Copyright

Downloading or copying content or files from the fide web portal does not result in the grant of any rights whatsoever to such content or files. All commercial property rights to works such as photographs, text, film or teaching aids remain exclusively with the SEM, the originators, appointed third parties and the individuals filmed or pictured. With the exception of the rights of use granted under Section 1.2, no element whatsoever may be reproduced, edited, stored or used in any other way without written consent.

2. Privacy policy

2.1 Basis

Further to Article 13 of the Swiss Federal Constitution and the federal government data protection regulations, every person has the right to privacy and the right to be protected against the misuse of their personal data. The fide Secretariat and the SEM comply with these regulations. Personal data is treated in the strictest confidence and is not sold or passed on to third parties unless required by a statutory or judicial ruling.

2.2 Security

In cooperation with our technical partners, the fide Secretariat and the SEM make every effort to protect the fide web portal as effectively as possible against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or falsification. SSL encryption is therefore used for security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content. This means that data that you send, via the contact form for example, cannot be intercepted by third parties. The web portal is operated and maintained, and in particular data stored, by service providers located in Switzerland. Access may also be routed via servers located abroad, however. Furthermore, our hosting partner, Metanet AG in Zurich, is certified under ISO 9001.

2.3 Access data

When you access the web portal, certain log data is stored on the web server: IP address in anonymous form, date, time, site visited, site previously visited, and general information about your operating system and browser. This data forms the basis of anonymous, statistical analyses which allow the content and services offered on the fide web portal to be amended and improved. The use of certain functions, for example in the online shop area, also requires individual elements of your visit to be stored in your browser using cookies. This data is not linked to the log data. Cookies can easily be deleted again via your browser settings.

2.4 Personal data

If you contact us voluntarily, register to access the private areas of the fide web portal, order via the online shop or sign up to receive fide information mails, the relevant details about you will be recorded and stored by us. This data will be used only to process your enquiry. You can contact the fide Secretariat at any time for information on the data that is held about you, and to have it amended or deleted.

2.5 Amendments

Statutory or organisational reasons may necessitate changes to this privacy policy. Please note the most recent version.
