For your application for naturalisation, residence permit (B) or settlement permit (C), you must provide proof of minimum language skills.

If you

  • speak and write a national language (simplified naturalisation) or a cantonal language as your mother tongue;
  • have attended compulsory school in a national language for at least 5 years (naturalisation) or 3 years (B and C permits);
  • have attended upper secondary or tertiary education in a national language,

you do not have to take a language test.
